IBF Super World Championship 2021

WELCOME TO DUBAI

Dubai is located on the Eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, in the south west corner of the Arabian Gulf. It is well known for its rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality to visitors. Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai witnesses remarkable and sustained development in all walks of life: high-level education system, world-class health system, knowledge modern facilities and designs such as the Burj Al Arab Hotel, overlooking Jumeirah Beach, the world’s only 7-star hotel, and Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building that stands at 828 meters, located near Sheikh Zayed Road, which includes a number of iconic residential and commercial towers & hotels. Dubai also boasts of ‘Palm Jumeirah’ the largest manmade island built in the shape of a palm tree on the sea. It includes hundreds of luxurious residential units and resorts highlighted by Atlantis Hotel, Zabeel Saray, to name a few. Dubai also features stunning nature including sea beaches and mountain peaks.

Dubai is also a land of natural beauty and diversity extending over an area of 4,000 square kilometres combining foothills, high sand dunes and mountains at Hatta.

 

IBF Super World Championship 2021

Categories for each gender will be:

  • Singles  (Maximum four athletes per gender per federation)
  • Doubles (Maximum two doubles per gender per federation)
  • Trios (Maximum one trios per gender per federation)
  • Team (Maximum one team (4 athletes) per gender per federation)
  • Mixed Team (Maximum two mixed teams per country (2 female +2 male per team))
  • Most Valuable Athlete Medal per gender
  • Most valuable Federation Trophy per gender
  • Most valuable Federation Trophy (combined female and male)

SINGLES

World Championships Singles format 

Round One: All athletes will bowl 12 games of qualifying. Top 32 bowlers qualify for Round Two.

Round Two: 32 athletes are divided into four groups of eight based on the results in Round One. Within each group the athletes will bowl seven games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The winner and second place in each group will advance to the quarter final. If there is a tie to advance in a group, one game matches will be played until the tie is broken.

Quarter-final: Winners in groups play second place athletes from Round Two. Match will be best of three games. Winners advance to Semi-final.

Semi-final: Winners from quarter-final play a best of three games matches.

Final: Winners from semi-final play a best of three games match for the Gold medal

 

DOUBLES

World Championships Doubles format

Round One: All Doubles will bowl 12 games baker of qualifying. Top 32 doubles qualify for Round Two.

Round Two: 32 Doubles are divided into four groups of eight based on the results in Round One. Within each group the Doubles will bowl seven games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The winner and second place in each group will advance to the quarter final. If there is a tie to advance in a group, one game matches will be played until the tie is broken.

Quarter-final: Winners in groups play second placed Doubles from Round Two. Match will be best of three games. Winners advance to Semi-final.

TRIOS

World Championships Trios format

All trios teams are allowed to have one substitute player on the team. A team may substitute a player between any game in the championship.

Round One: All trios teams will bowl 12 games baker of qualifying. Top 16 teams qualify for Round Two.

Round Two: 16 trios teams are divided into 4 groups of 4 based on the results in Round One. Within each group the teams will bowl three games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The winner and second place in each group will advance to the quarter-final. If there is a tie to advance in a group, one game matches will be played until the tie is broken.

Quarter-final: Winners in groups play second place teams from Round Two. Match will be best of three games. Winners advance to Semi-final.

MIXED TEAM

World Championships Mixed Teams (4) format

Round One: All teams will bowl 12 games baker of qualifying. Top 16 teams qualify for Round Two.

Within each group the teams will bowl three games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.
